Wassail Fest and Christmas on Main
Downtown’s biggest shopping night is the Wassail Fest, held right after the Polar Express Christmas on Main tree lighting. Shops, salons and restaurants stay open late, merchants serve their own recipes of warm wassail or cider (with non-alcoholic options), and visitors vote for a “Wassail Master,” according to Main Street Madison. The city has set the 2026 tree lighting for 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, on its Special Events page. In 2025 Wassail Fest ran the same night as the lighting; Main Street Madison had not posted its 2026 date as of Nov. 6. Our Christmas parade and tree lighting page will carry it.
Town Madison
Town Madison, the district built around Toyota Field off I-565, lists its stores on its shop page, including Duluth Trading at 100 Angry Beaver Way and BJ’s Wholesale Club at 165 Graphics Drive, with a run of restaurants on Outfield Drive and Moon Shot Drive. The Rocket City Trash Pandas’ Junkyard team store is at the ballpark, and the team sells Trash Cash gift cards there, according to its ballpark guide.
