City of Madison Parks and Recreation stages “Let Freedom Ring,” a free evening at Dublin Park, 8324 Old Madison Pike, with live music, food trucks, inflatables for children and a fireworks show to close. In 2026 the city held it on Friday, July 3, the night before the holiday.

Getting there and parking
The city sends everyone to Bob Jones High School to park. A free shuttle runs from the school to Dublin Park, starting at 4:30 p.m. in 2026. The city uses the same plan for its Easter event at Dublin Park, where only handicap parking is allowed in the park itself. Expect heavy traffic on Old Madison Pike and Hughes Road around the start and the end of the show. For road work that could affect the drive, see our road construction page.
About Dublin Park
Dublin Park is the city’s main recreation park. Besides the nine soccer fields used for the celebration, it has the recreation center with a gym and indoor pool, an outdoor pool, the inclusive Kid’s Kingdom playground, which reopened in November 2023, and a paved half-mile walking path, according to Parks and Recreation. More in our parks and trails guide.
Watching from elsewhere
The city does not publish official viewing spots outside Dublin Park; the free event inside the park, with the shuttle and food trucks, is the one it plans for. Madison police handle temporary traffic control at special events, according to the city’s Traffic Issues page.
Fireworks at home
Before setting off your own fireworks, check the city’s code of ordinances or ask Madison Fire and Rescue’s administrative office at Fire Station 1, 101 Mill Road, 256-772-3326. In a dry summer, watch for burn bans and the city’s open burning rules. For a fireworks injury or a fire, call 911.
