Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 6, 2027. Madison City Schools give students a four-day weekend, from Friday, Sept. 3, through Monday, and city offices and the library close on Monday. The day after, the Rocket City Trash Pandas open their final homestand of the season at Toyota Field.

In 2026 the Dublin Park indoor pool also closed all day on Labor Day, according to the city’s pool schedules page.
Trash and recycling
Madison’s garbage is picked up on Thursdays by Madison County Waste Control. When the county closes for a holiday early in the week, it moves the rest of that week’s pickups back a day. Its 2027 holiday list was not out as of Oct. 17, 2026; we will add the Labor Day week change here and on our trash and recycling page when it is. The Trash Pandas’ last homestand
After a week at Chattanooga (Aug. 31 to Sept. 5), the Trash Pandas come home for six games against the Knoxville Smokies, Tuesday, Sept. 7, to Sunday, Sept. 12, the final series of the regular season, according to the team’s 2027 schedule. Game times and promotions will be announced later.
