Where to pay respects
City of Madison Veterans Memorial. American Legion Post 229 dedicated a marble monument on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017, in Madison City Park at the corner of Church and Front streets downtown, replacing an older one on the same site that had worn with age. It lists the names of Madison residents who died in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and later conflicts, according to the American Legion’s memorial record.
Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial. In 2026 the area’s Memorial Day ceremony and wreath laying was held at the memorial at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day, with RSVPs through the North Alabama Veterans & Fraternal Organizations Coalition, according to the Redstone Rocket’s listing. Check the coalition’s website for 2027 details in the spring.
We will add Madison church, school and veterans group observances as they are announced.

Madison’s garbage is picked up on Thursdays by Madison County Waste Control. Check our trash and recycling page the week before.
Pools and summer
Dublin Park’s outdoor pool reopens for the season on a date the city posts on its pool schedules page. In 2026 the indoor pool was closed on Memorial Day. See our summer camps and pools guide.
